Our Background

Kinabalu International Hotel was incorporated in 1974 and commenced operation in hotel business in August 1976. Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) acquired shares in the company in 1977 and thereafter took over the majority shareholding from Syarikat Gaya Timber Timber Company Sdn Bhd in 1979.  State Government of Sabah later acquired 42.67% shares in the company in 1989, while SEDCO remains as the majority shareholder with a shareholding of 57.33%.
On 7th July 1979, the company entered into an agreement with Hyatt Hotel Management Ltd (Hyatt) a company incorporated in Hong Kong to manage its hotel which is now known as Hyatt Regency Kinabalu.
